Pakistan will ‘absolutely not’ permit the use of its bases to the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) or the US armed forces for any sort of action inside Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister, Imran Khan, revealed this during an interview with Jonathan Swan of HBO’s Axios, which will be aired on Monday at 3:00 am (PST).

During the interview, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance on not allowing the US to use its bases for operations in Afghanistan after the latter’s withdrawal from the war-torn nation on the 11th of September, 2021.

The prime minister stated this while responding to a question by the interviewer on whether he would allow the US to use the South Asian country’s bases or not.

“Will you allow the American government to have the CIA here in Pakistan to conduct cross-border counter-terrorism missions against Al-Qaeda, ISIS (Daesh), and the Taliban?” Swan questioned the premier.

“Absolutely Not. There’s no way we’re going to allow any bases or any sort of action from Pakistani territory into Afghanistan. Absolutely not,” the prime minister firmly responded.

The prime minister’s bold reply gobsmacked Jonathan Swan, who interrupted Khan and questioned, “seriously?” to reconfirm his words.

To this, the prime minister again repeats, “absolutely not.”

The United States will completely withdraw its troops from Afghanistan on the 11th of September, 2021.

However, the Biden administration is examining options in the region to maintain intelligence on alleged terrorist networks inside Afghanistan after its withdrawal.
