The T20 World Cup will be played from October 17 November 14 in Oman and United Arab Emirates. The groups for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 were announced last month by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
“The groups, selected on the basis of team rankings as of 20 March 2021, see defending champions the West Indies pooled along with former champions England, Australia and South Africa in Group 1 of the Super 12s, with two qualifiers from Round 1 joining them,” an ICC press release said.
“Group 2 will comprise former champions India and Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan and the other two qualifiers from Round 1,” it further added.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan has never been able to win a world cup game against India. This also includes the Mohali semi final and 2007 T20 world cup final. As per cricket experts, Pakistan will have a slight advantage over India considering their vast experience in the UAE conditions.
Former cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar, has also termed Pakistan to be the favourite for the high-octane clash.
