ISLAMABAD: Two special assistants to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Dr Zafar Mirza and Tania Aidrus, resigned on the same day.
First Special Assistant for Digital Pakistan Tania Aidrus resigned and later Special Assistant for Health Dr Zafar Mirza also resigned.
Tania Aidrus sent her resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan stating that she resigned in the public interest. I came to Pakistan with a spirit to service but there was a lot of talk about my Canadian citizenship.
“I was born in Canada and I did not want to be born there. I will come to Pakistan when It needs me,” she said.
It may be recalled that in the last few days, details of citizenship and assets of special assistants to the Prime Minister and advisers were released in which advisers with dual citizenship were severely criticized and Tania aidrus was also facing criticism over dual citizenship.
Later, Dr. Zafar Mirza also submitted his resignation in which he said that he resigned due to constant criticism on the role of special assistant, he is happy that he resigned at a time when the number of cases has decreased.

He said that he had left the World Health Organization (WHO) for Pakistan at the special request of Prime Minister Imran Khan but was resigning due to criticism and the people of Pakistan deserved better health care.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has accepted the resignations of Tania Aidrus and Dr Zafar Mirza. A notification has also been issued by the Cabinet Secretariat approving the resignations of Tania Aidrus and Dr Zafar Mirza.
