Shahid Afridi appointed captain of Galle Gladiators in Sri Lanka Premier League

In the Sri Lankan Premier League, the Galle Gladiators have appointed Shahid Afridi as the captain of the team while Bhanuka Raja Paksa of Sri Lanka will be the vice-captain.

Sarfraz Ahmed will not be available due to Pakistan team’s engagement in New Zealand while Shahid Afridi was in action in Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoff matches after which team owner Nadeem Umar appointed Shahid Afridi as captain.


Calling Afridi the best captain, Nadeem Omar said there was no better choice than him and his role would be the most prominent in the Sri Lanka Premier League.

Galle Gladiators captain Shahid Afridi will arrive in Sri Lanka on November 23, while Swing’s Sultan Wasim Akram will be Galle Gladiators’ mentor and Azam Khan manager.

The isolation of the Galle Gladiators team will be completed today while the training will start from tomorrow.

The Sri Lankan Premier League kicks off on November 26 in Hambantota, Sri Lanka,  Galle Gladiators will be playing their first match on November 27 against Jaffna Stallions.
