Senate Standing Committee to look at the matter of sitara Imtiaz being given to Javed Afridi

The Senate referred the matter of awarding Sitara-e-Imtiaz Award to Javed Afridi, owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmai, to the relevant standing committee.

Speaking in the Senate, PML-N Senator Mushahidullah Khan said that there were many people who did not understand why they were given the award.

Mushahidullah Khan said that Javed Afridi was given the award for owning a cricket team or for bringing business from China? If the award was given because of cricket, then why not Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings and other teams?

He said that if any team has the upper hand, it is Lahore Qalandars because despite the defeat, Lahore Qalandars served cricket and the big players have come out of Lahore Qalandars.

The PML-N senator said that everywhere you give favors to a friend, there is a hidden service, it is too much, this award should be disliked by the House.

The Senate has referred the matter of awarding the award to Javed Afridi to the relevant standing committee.

It may be recalled that in a ceremony held at the Presidency on September 7, President Arif Alvi conferred the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award on Javed Afridi.
