Prominent poet, writer, educationist and religious scholar Professor Inayat Ali Khan has died at the age of 85.
Professor Inayat Ali Khan was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi after suffering a heart attack. Professor Inayat Ali Khan was born in 1935 in Tonk, Rajasthan, India.
After independence, he migrated with his parents to Pakistan and settled in Hyderabad, Sindh.
After completing his Masters from Sindh University, he became involved in teaching and for many years was also associated with the Sindh Textbook Board.
Prof. Inayat Ali Khan has also written some excellent ghazals and poems, but his comic poetry became his reason for fame and recognition.
It would not be wrong to call Professor Inayat Ali Khan a follower of Akbar Allahabadi because of his style of speech.
His poetry collections include Azra Inayat, Inayat Kiya Kiya and Kaliyat Inayat.
Prof. Inayat Ali Khan’s funeral prayers were offered in Model Colony area of Karachi in the presence of a large number of citizens. He was later buried in Model Colony Cemetery.
