The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate, who lost last night’s Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, won the recount. PPP candidate Jameel Ahmad lost his seat by a margin of only 2 votes. Controversy erupted over the outcome of GB2 Gilgit. According to unofficial and unconfirmed results last night, PPP’s Jamil Ahmed had the upper hand over the opposition candidate.
Jamil Ahmed got 6848 votes, Fatehullah Khan of PTI got 6229 votes and Hafeez-ur-Rehman of PML-N got 2100 votes. However, when the votes were recounted in this constituency, according to unofficial results. PTI’s Fatehullah Khan got 6696 votes and Jamil Ahmed got 6694 votes. Hence, PPP candidate Jameel Ahmad lost by only 2 runs.
He declared Fatehullah Khan unofficially successful against Jamil Ahmed. On the defeat of Jamil Ahmed, the PPP cadres who were celebrating the victory last night were furious.
