ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed deep sorrow over the crash of a national airline (PIA) plane in Karachi and assured an immediate inquiry into the incident.
In a message released from the social networking website Twitter, he said that he was in touch with PIA chairman Arshad Malik, who had left for Karachi.

He said that rescue and relief teams were present on the spot and an immediate inquiry would be held into the incident.”I offer my prayers and condolences to the families of those killed in the tragedy,” he said.
It may be recalled that a passenger plane of the national airline PIA crashed in a residential area of Model Colony shortly before landing in Karachi, as a result of which several people have been reported killed.
The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the crash, saying PIA flight PK8303 had 99 passengers and eight crew members on board, but did not give a final death toll.
The passenger plane was on its way to Karachi from Lahore and crashed in Model Colony near Karachi Airport.
The PIA plane had taken off from Lahore Airport one hour and 30 minutes before the crash and crashed shortly before landing at Karachi Airport.
