PM Imran Khan has said that the opposition is demanding NRO which will not be given in any case and will not be involved in any kind of blackmail.
Addressing a meeting of the parliamentary party, PM Imran Khan said that if the opposition (Security Council and Anti-Terrorism Amendment) had not agreed to the bill, it would have been passed in a joint sitting of Parliament.
The Prime Minister said that legislation related to Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is necessary for Pakistan, we are correcting the shortcomings of the past.
He said that the opposition should be supported in the legislation in the national interest. If the opposition did not prioritize the national interest over personal interest, it would be exposed.
The Prime Minister further said that NROs could not be given to the opposition in return for legislation in the national interest.
It may be recalled that the Senate and the National Assembly have approved the UN Security Council and the Anti-Terrorism Amendment Bills after incorporating the opposition’s amendments.
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has opposed the UN Security Council Anti-Terrorism Amendment Act bill to be introduced in the Senate. JUI Senator Maulana Ata-ur-Rehman while addressing the Senate session said that why the position of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is not heard. Are we enemies of the country and the nation?
He said that giving way to the government by bringing amendments by the opposition is the weakness of the opposition, both the major opposition parties are angry, both the major opposition parties did not support the opposition and supported the government.
