Turkish Airlines has agreed to a new agreement with National Airline (PIA) under which PIA passengers will be able to travel on Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to the United Kingdom and other European countries.
According to sources, Turkish Airlines has agreed to a new code sharing agreement with PIA.
Turkish Airlines has written a letter to the head of PIA Air Marshal Arshad Malik asking that a unilateral co-sharing agreement be signed between the two airlines.
The letter said that Turkish Air and PIA would share codes for Birmingham, London, Milan, Barcelona, Copenhagen and Oslo.
After the agreement, PIA passengers will be able to book tickets for European routes of Turkish Airlines from Istanbul Airport.
Sources said that the co-sharing agreement is being signed due to restrictions imposed by the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States on PIA flights.
Britain, the European Union and the United States have banned PIA flights following allegations of fake and dubious licenses for national airline pilots.
