The oxygen supply system in the Russian part of the International Space Station (ISS) has deteriorated.
According to the Russian space agency Roscosmos, the oxygen supply system in the Russian part of the International Space Station has deteriorated, but the oxygen supply system in the American part is working perfectly, so there is no danger to the astronauts.
A spokesman for Roscosmos said there was no threat to the security of the International Space Station, including crew, and that the problem would be rectified soon.
The oxygen system malfunction comes at a time when three new astronauts have recently arrived on the space station, including two Russians and an American, and the International Space Station now has six crew members.
Leading Russian astronaut Gennady Padalka, who holds the world record for most days spent in space, has said that all parts of the Russian part of the International Space Station are old and useless.
Gennady Padalka says the equipment on the space station can be used for up to 15 years, but Russian equipment is two decades old.
