The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Islamabad has issued a terror alert for terrorist attacks in Peshawar and Quetta.
The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has planned terrorism in Peshawar and Quetta, according to a statement issued by NACTA.
NACTA says the terrorists have planned to target the political and religious leadership with bombs and suicide bombings. The terror plot was foiled by acting on these reports in Balochistan on October 21.
NACTA said that 8 IEDs were recovered during the operation in Qamardin Karez area of Balochistan. The explosives were to be used in terrorism in Quetta and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
NACTA has recommended strict security measures in Quetta and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It may be recalled that the next meeting of the anti-government opposition Ittehad Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is scheduled for October 25 in Quetta, which will be addressed by the central leadership of the PDM.
