Motorway abuse case: CCPO Lahore apologizes for controversial statement

Lahore CCPO Sheikh Omar apologized for the controversial statement regarding the motorway incident.

On September 9, near Gujjarpura on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, two men broke the windows of a woman’s car  and forcibly took her to the forest. The two accused not only tortured the woman but also raped her in front of her children.

Lahore CCPO Omar Sheikh said in a statement that the woman should have checked the petrol before boarding the motorway and should not have traveled at night without a man.

Lahore CCPO Umar Sheikh is facing severe criticism over this statement. The people and politicians are demanding the resignation of Umar Sheikh while Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Qasim Khan also rejected the statement of CCPO. But has demanded a report from the government.

However, now Lahore CCPO Omar Sheikh has apologized for his controversial statement.

Omar Sheikh in a meeting with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that if anyone has been offended by my statement, I apologize.

“I apologize to my sisters, brothers and society, I did not mean anything wrong, I apologize to my sister who was abused and from all walks of life,” he said.
