Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif arrived in Pakistan for a two-day official visit. According to diplomatic sources, on arrival in Pakistan, Additional Secretary AIT, Iranian Ambassador Syed Mohammad Hussaini received the distinguished guest at Noor Khan Airbase. Iranian Embassy and Foreign Ministry officials were also present on the occasion.
Diplomatic sources said that a high-level political and economic delegation has arrived in Islamabad along with the Iranian Foreign Minister. Iran’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Ibrahim Tahirian is also part of the delegation.
According to the Foreign Office spokesman, the Iranian Foreign Minister will start regular meetings during his visit to Pakistan from tomorrow. Javad Zarif will hold meetings with Pakistani President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan tomorrow. According to diplomatic sources, Iranian FM will also meet Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa tomorrow. In addition, the Iranian Foreign Minister will give a lecture at the Institute of Strategic Studies tomorrow evening.
According to diplomatic sources, the Iranian foreign minister will discuss Pak-Iran bilateral relations, the US presidential election, the IP gas pipeline, the Afghan peace process, Pak-Iran economic relations, and other issues. Pak-Iran border management issues, illegal drugs, and human trafficking will also be discussed.
