Iran has sentenced a wrestler to death for participating in anti-government protests in the country.
According to the Arab News Agency, Iran executed champion wrestler Naveed Afkari, rejecting international pressure and a request from its citizens to pardon the wrestler.
Wrestler Naveed Afkari, 27, was arrested in Iran on charges of participating in anti-government protests in 2018.
Recently, US President Trump tweeted to the Iranian authorities asking them not to hang Naveed Afkari.
Trump also took to the field to save the Iranian wrestler from the death penalty but the Iranian government hanged the wrestler.
According to Arab media, the Iranian government executed wrestler Naveed Afkari without informing his family.
