Government is ready to change NAB law says Shah Mehmood Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is ready to change the law.

Addressing a press conference in Multan, the Foreign Minister said that legislation was needed to get the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) out of the gray list, adding that the government had taken concrete steps to move from the gray list to the white list.

He said that 8 bills have been prepared to curb money laundering and terror financing which have been sent to the opposition. One of them is related to NAB law. The opposition will be consulted on these bills on Monday.

The Foreign Minister said that India has been trying to blacklist Pakistan.

He said that the opposition had expressed their reservations over the NAB law. For five years in the PPP and PML-N government, there was an opportunity to change the NAB law. For 10 years, they also had the opportunity and authority to improve the NAB law but could not.

The Foreign Minister said that all the bills sent to the opposition are also related to a law related to NAB. We will sit down and discuss these bills on Monday at 5 pm. Corruption free Pakistan is what we all need. Let’s see what progress is made in Monday’s session.
