England thrashed Windies to win Test Series. England beat West Indies by 269 runs in the third Test to win the three-match series 1-2.

In the third Test of the series at Old Trafford, Manchester, the visiting West Indies won the toss and elected to field. England had bowled out for 369 in the first innings thanks to brilliant batting by Pope, Buttler, and Stuart Broad.

Pope scored 91, Butler 67, Broad 62, and Burns 57 for the English team. For the visitors, Roach took 4 wickets, Gabriel and Chase took 2 wickets each. West Indies’ first innings in reply to England was a disappointing start and they suffered a loss early on.

The entire West Indies team was bowled out for 197, giving the hosts a 172-run lead in the first innings. Only captain Jason Holder was able to play a significant role for the visitors and he was dismissed for 46 runs while England bowler Stuart Broad scalped 6 wickets.

After taking a big lead over the visitors, Rory Burns and Dom Sibley started the second innings for England and batted brilliantly. England declared the second innings at 226 for two and gave the hosts a mountain-like target of 399 to win.

Burns stood out with 90 and Sibley with 56, while Joey Root remained unbeaten on 68. The West Indies struggled from the start in chase of a mountain-like target and half the team returned to the pavilion for 79 runs.

Apart from Hope, none of the West Indies players performed well and the entire team was bowled out for 129 runs. England beat hosts West Indies by 269 runs in the third Test to win the series 1-2.

In the second innings for the English team, Broad bowled brilliantly and led 4 players to the pavilion while he was declared man of the match for scoring a half-century in Tests and taking a total of 10 wickets.

It may be recalled that in the first Test of the three-Test series, West Indies had defeated England by 4 wickets while in the second Test, England had avenged the defeat in the first Test by defeating England by 113 runs.
