Sania Nishtar, chairperson of Imran Khan’s Special Assistant for Social Security and Ehsas Program, said that Sindh Ehsas has increased its share in the program to 31 percent due to poverty.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Sania Nishtar said that Sindh has got 31% share in Ehsas Emergency Cash Program whereas according to 2017 census, Sindh’s share was 22.45%.
Sania Nishtar said that poverty in Sindh may be high or the lockdown was severe.
The Special Assistant said that Punjab’s share as per the census was 51.57 percent but it was given 43.18 percent while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was given 17.93 percent share in the program.
She said that before Corona, 24 percent of the people living in the country were living below the poverty line. Working in the informal sector, those working in the informal sector have been badly affected by the lockdown.
Chairperson Ehsas Program said that the report has been prepared to maintain transparency. Ehsas Cash program was fully digital, there was no interference in it.Data is used in decision making, so there is global interest in the program.
