The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to retain national team captain Babar Azam for limited overs cricket till T20.
The Pakistan Cricket Board appointed Babar Azam as the captain of the national T20 team for one year in May this year and then in November after reviewing his performance in the scheduled series against the Scheduled T20 World Cup and other teams. It was to be decide whether to retain him as captain or not.
However, due to the global epidemic Corona, the scheduled T20 World Cup in Australia has now been postponed to November. The 2021 T20 World Cup is scheduled in India, but the ICC has not yet announced the host of the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Sources said that as the history of the T20 World Cup has moved forward, the PCB has decided to extend the tenure of Babar Azam for the World Cup.
Babar Azam is also the ODI captain and will captain the national team for the first time in the series against Zimbabwe.
