Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman is chairing a meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi to observe Shawal moon in Pakistan.
The meeting is also attended by meteorologists. In addition, meetings of Zonal Sighting Hilal Committees are being held in other provinces from where the evidence will be sent to the Central Sighting Hilal Committee which will make the final announcement of the sighting of the moon.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has once again claimed that the moon will be clearly visible through binoculars at sunset today.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia and Qatar did not see the Shawwal moon yesterday, and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, May 24.
